Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

One of the most common types of repetitive motion injuries is carpal tunnel syndrome. This condition occurs when the median nerve in the wrist is compressed by swelling and/or thickening of the tendons around the compartment that houses the nerve. The swelling and thickening occurs because of repetitive motion of the wrist, resulting in numbness, tingling, loss of sensation, loss of range motion and other symptoms due to the compression of this major nerve. Workers who are most at risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome are office workers or other workers who may be typing on a keyboard or doing other fine motor-related tasks.

Other Repetitive Motion Injuries

There are a wide range of other repetitive stress injuries that workers may sustain due to overuse and the repetitive physical actions required at their jobs, including:

  • Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
  • Trigger finger
  • Tendinitis
  • Thoracic outlet syndrome
  • Cubital tunnel syndrome
  • De Quervain syndrome

If your doctor has diagnosed you with one of these or another repetitive motion injury, consult with our firm. We can evaluate your case and determine how to proceed with a workers’ compensation benefits claim.
