Investigation follows incident involving fatal workplace injuries

It is often amazing to think of the impact of a single moment. A split second decision, especially at the workplace, can often have serious ramifications. As a result, California and other states require employers to provide workers’ compensation insurance benefits to help protect employees if they suffer workplace injuries. Unfortunately, one man recently passed away in an incident that police in another state are describing as an industrial accident.

Police claim that the victim, a man in his 50s, was driving a wrecker at approximately 9 p.m. one night in August. Reports note that the man apparently left the vehicle in park as he exited it to speak with someone else. Unfortunately, reports indicate that the vehicle began to roll forward.

Witnesses claim that the man attempted to run and jump into the wrecker. Unfortunately, it edged closer to a recreational vehicle. Just as the man jumped, officials say, the door of the wrecker struck the RV, pinning the man and ultimately resulting in his death. Although police say that the wrecker was not moving any more than 5 mph at the time of the incident, the force of the collision was sufficient to cause fatal injuries.

Unfortunately, industrial accidents such as this can lead to fatal workplace injuries in California and other states. Many family members are often left wondering how they will cope with the financial consequences of their loss as they also cope with loss of wages and funeral expenses.  Workers’ compensation benefits often extend to certain dependent family members, prompting many who have lost a loved one in such a manner to seek guidance from an attorney with experience with the compensation process.
