Man dies from workplace injuries suffered in scaffolding collapse

On Behalf of | Sep 8, 2016 | Workplace Injuries

All jobs hold some sort of risk. While the Occupational Safety and Health Administration works with employers in an attempt to reduce the amount of risks that employees encounter in the workplace, accidents can still happen in California and across the country. In fact, authorities are investigating a recent accident that resulted in fatal workplace injuries.

Reports indicate that the 36-year-old victim was an employee of JP Installations. He and several other workers were attempting to disassemble scaffolding at at a facility rented by NU World Beauty Supply. Unfortunately, reports indicate that a section of the scaffolding collapsed unexpectedly.

The other workers were able to move out of harm’s way, avoiding injury. Unfortunately, the victim was not able to and died as a result of the injuries suffered in the collapse. Several different agencies, including OSHA, responded to the scene. Investigators must now work to determine the cause of the accident and determine whether violations of health or safety standards may have been contributing factors.

The unexpected loss of a loved one is always an emotionally difficult event. While many in California must cope with their loss, they must also find a way to manage the financial ramifications of fatal workplace injuries — funeral expenses in addition to loss of wages is often more than many families can manage. While they may be entitled to workers’ compensation insurance benefits, many people are unsure about the process and to what they may be entitled. As a result, they request the guidance of a professional who has experience with seeking fair settlements. The financial security provided by such benefits can often allow loved ones to focus on their emotional recovery rather than the stressed creating due to uncertainty regarding how they will pay their bills.
