Victim’s family may deserve workers’ compensation after crash

A workplace accident can happen at any time. Unfortunately, even the most safety-conscious employees can fall victim to such an accident, often due to the actions of another. As a result, states, including California, require employers to provide workers’ compensation insurance benefits to their employees.

One out-of-state family may be entitled to such benefits after a fatal crash took the life of a truck driver. The man was reportedly hauling a load of logs one afternoon on a day in February when he encountered a vehicle that was being driven slowly and halfway on the shoulder of the road. Reports indicate that the driver of the car attempted a hard left in front of the truck.

The female driver’s action allegedly caused to truck driver to slam on his brakes. As a result, his load of logs shifted forward and entered the truck’s cab. Unfortunately, the man passed away at the scene of the accident. Reports indicate that he was wearing his seatbelt at the time, and alcohol is not believed to have played a role. The female driver involved in the accident was apparently uninjured.

While the death of a loved one is always emotionally difficult, an unexpected death can create financial complications with which many families are unprepared to cope. Although families who have lost a loved one due to an accident related to their employment may deserve workers’ compensation, many families in California and other areas of the country are unprepared to navigate through the compensation process. Fortunately, there are experienced professionals who can guide them through it.
