Sudden construction accidents can quickly prove fatal

On Behalf of | Jan 29, 2018 | Construction Workers' Accidents

It is an unfortunate reality that a person’s life could be lost in a single instant. Many people may think that construction accidents lead to individuals’ suffering long, drawn out agony, and while it is true that such injuries could occur, it is also possible for workers to suffer injuries that prove almost instantly fatal. No matter the circumstances, such an event can have devastating outcomes.

California residents may be interested in such an accident that recently occurred out of state. Reports indicated that a construction crew were working on building a senior living facility when a serious accident took place. Apparently, three workers were attempting to put gutters on the building when one of the materials touched an electrical line. This contact resulted in an electrical current traveling through the gutter and electrocuting the workers.

Of the three individuals involved, one worker suffered fatal injuries. Another worker was considered to be in critical condition, and the third individual did not wish to receive medical treatment. The deceased worker was reported as being 42 years old, and the critically injured party was 39 years old.

When sudden construction accidents such as this one take place, it can come as a shock to those on site and to the workers’ loved ones. In hopes of better dealing with the financial struggles that can come from such an event, injured California workers and surviving family members of deceased workers may wish to determine whether they could qualify for workers’ compensation. These benefits could help eligible parties receive financial assistance for medical bills, lost wages and other applicable expenses.
