Once again, a fall leads worker to suffer a construction injury

In California and elsewhere, workplace injuries are not uncommon. Practically anyone in any profession could end up hurt due to a sudden accident, or possibly even due to an accumulated injury or illness. Of course, individuals in the construction industry are surrounded by hazards almost daily, and any misstep could lead to an incident that causes a worker to suffer a construction injury.

It was recently reported that a worker in another state suffered injuries after this type of event. The man was working as part of a construction crew and was on the 12th floor of a building when the accident took place. Apparently, some materials that were overhead fell, which caused a hole in the aluminum flooring. The worker then fell through the hole and came to a stop on the 10th floor.

The man was injured in the fall, but those injuries were not considered life threatening. He was transported from the scene to an area hospital for medical attention. The incident was under investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to determine whether any safety violations may have contributed to the injury-causing incident.

Any type of construction injury could need considerable attention and recovery time. During that time, it is not unusual for workers to accumulate medical bills, lose wages from time off and face other financial difficulties. Fortunately, workers' compensation can often help address those monetary burdens. However, California workers will need to apply for those benefits, and because the process can be tricky, it may be wise to consult with experienced attorneys.
