Equipment fall causes life-threatening construction injury

Any type of injury could have major impacts on a person's life. An injured party may need extensive medical attention and treatment, need time away from work, and could experiencing lasting repercussions from the injuries. Unfortunately, a construction injury can have such effects on a worker involved in an on-the-job accident.

California readers may be interested in a construction accident that recently occurred in a nearby state. According to reports, a worker was on a light-rail construction site when he was involved in an accident at approximately 10:30 a.m. Apparently, support equipment fell and landed on top of the worker. It was noted that the equipment was used to stabilize structures under construction, but it was unclear what may have caused the equipment to fall.

Emergency crews were alerted to the situation, and a fire rescue crew was able to get the man out from under the equipment. He received treatment on the way to a trauma center. The man was reported as being in his 50s, and the injuries were described as being life-threatening.

Any type of construction injury can have lasting effects because there is such a high chance of serious outcomes. If California workers are injured on the job, they may worry about what their futures will hold. In the meantime, they may want to look into obtaining financial assistance from workers' compensation benefits to help cover the costs of medical expenses, lost wages and other difficulties. It may be useful to consult with attorneys knowledgeable in this area of law to ensure that the process goes smoothly.
