Workplace injuries can occur when working with power equipment

People face dangers every day, and in some cases, they do not give it much thought. Some activities that individuals carry out on an almost daily basis as part of their jobs may put them at risk of serious or even fatal injuries. While many workers are fortunate enough to make it home each day without having suffered workplace injuries, not everyone is so lucky.

California readers may be interested in a work-related accident that took place in another state. According to reports, workers for a cable provider were working with power lines behind a business when the accident occurred. One worker was in the bucket of a truck when he was electrocuted. It was unclear exactly how the incident occurred. Another worker attempted to help the first, but that worker was also injured.

There was a delay in reaching the worker in the bucket because emergency crews had to wait until power could be shut off to avoid suffering injuries themselves. After they were able to reach the worker, it was determined that he suffered fatal injuries. The second worker was transported to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Unfortunately, working around any type of electrical equipment comes with serious hazards. If California power workers are injured in similar events, they or their families could face life-changing outcomes. All workplace injuries should be taken seriously, and if workers are hurt on the job, they may qualify for workers’ compensation benefits. These benefits can often prove useful to workers who need to cover medical expenses and lost wages and to surviving families of deceased workers who need to cover financial hardships as well.
