Construction accidents: Worker electrocuted during renovation

On Behalf of | Sep 24, 2015 | Construction Workers' Accidents

There are hundreds of different hazards that the average person in California faces every day. Many of these hazards come from the workplace. While some precautions can be taken to safeguard workers, many construction accidents, for example, still happen. In one out-of-state incident, workers discovered the body of one of their co-workers. He died as a result of a workplace accident.

The employees were apparently working on a house renovation project in early September. Reports indicate the the victim’s co-workers noticed that he was missing. A worker is said to have found his body in the crawl space under the house.

Authorities have since determined that the 51-year-old man was electrocuted, and his death has been ruled an accident. The incident has been reported to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. A workplace accident such as this typically leads to an investigation by OSHA to help determine the cause of the accident.

An OSHA investigation can potentially help ensure that other workers will not suffer from similar construction accidents. While its findings may be able to provide some closure for the man’s grieving family members, it will do little to lessen their grief over his death or the financial consequences they may experience as a result of the unexpected tragedy. For those in California who have lost a loved one in a workplace accident, there is help available. Workers’ compensation insurance coverage provided by the employer typically extends to dependent family members in the event of a fatality. To ensure fair compensation, many people have turned to an experienced professional who is able to advocate on their behalf.
