Three injured in scaffolding collapse

A California scaffolding collapse has left three workers hurt and two of them facing life-threatening injuries. The construction accident happened at approximately 9:35 a.m. on Jan. 24 at a home on Clayton Street in the Twin Peaks neighborhood of San Francisco. There was no word on what caused the collapse.

2 California workers sent to hospital following lab explosion

Two Amgen Inc. employees at a facility in South San Francisco were injured in a minor explosion in one of the biotechnology company's third-floor labs on Jan. 8, according to a fire marshal. Fire crews were notified of the explosion at around 3:30 p.m., which prompted a second-alarm response, a road closure and an investigation. The investigation is also taking into account the fact that the company experienced another flash fire in May 2013.

OSHA orders company to pay worker for blacklisting and sabotage

Workers in California may have heard about a New Jersey man who was blacklisted by a trucking company after he sought treatment for a workplace injury. Now the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has ordered New Prime Inc. to pay the former employee $100,994.24 in back wages, compensation and punitive damages.

Construction company sued for worker's death

California readers might be interested in the case of a worker who died in a fall at Kyle Field, the stadium at Texas A&M University, which is currently under renovation. A Houston-based construction company has been sued by the relatives of a demolition worker who was killed in a fall from four-stories at a football stadium undergoing renovations at Texas A&M University. According to A&M officials, the construction accident that killed the employee occurred on Dec. 3. The lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages on behalf of the victim's mother and the victim's two young children. The negligence lawsuit was filed on Dec. 23 against the construction company and other related firms.
