The dangers that police officers face are well known to most people in California. While most people know that they often place their own lives in danger while protecting others, many are also in danger when responding to calls due to the necessity of arriving at a scene quickly. For example, one police motorcycle officer suffered workplace injuries in a recent crash.
According to reports, the officer was responding to another officer’s request for backup one afternoon in late November at the time of the accident. While the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation, there was a collision between the officer on his motorcycle and a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup remained at the scene.
A representative for the city notes that the officer was responsive and conscious. However, he was transported by helicopter to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the pickup was not injured. The collision forced the closure of the road for several hours.
It is likely that the California police officer will need extensive medical attention as well as time off work while he recovers from his workplace injuries. While these circumstances could create an unstable financial situation, workers in California who are injured while on the job are often entitled to workers’ compensation insurance benefits. Despite deserving such benefits, many people find that ensuring fair compensation can be a difficult process. As a result, they seek the guidance of a professional with experience with the claims process. Having such a person fighting on their side can help those suffering as a result of a workplace accident receive the compensation they deserve while allowing them to focus on their overall recovery.
