The dangers that police officers face are well known to most people in California. According to reports, the officer was responding to another officer’s request for backup one afternoon in late November at the time of the accident. While the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation, there was a collision between the officer on his motorcycle and a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup remained at the scene.
A representative for the city notes that the officer was responsive and conscious. However, he was transported by helicopter to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the pickup was not injured. The collision forced the closure of the road for several hours.
