There are multiple risks associated with every type of employment. As a result, states require employers to provide workers’ compensation insurance coverage in case a worker is injured while completing his or her job responsibilities. The family of a man who died in California as a result of workplace injuries suffered while employed by an equipment rental company may be entitled to death benefits.
The 36-year-old man was reportedly working for a company tasked with dismantling certain structures at a music festival. As he was working on one of the tents, a piece of the structure fell on him, striking him in the back and pinning him to the ground. Other workers were able to remove the structure.
Rescue workers soon arrived and began administering CPR. He was transported to the hospital but passed away in the emergency room. While it is believed that the man died as a result of blunt force trauma, an autopsy will be performed. The California Department of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has launched an investigation into the incident.
