There are a variety of different risks associated with all occupations. However, construction accidents in California can often happen unexpectedly, with tragic results. Unfortunately, the family of an out-of-state man are likely still in shock over the news of his unexpected death due to an accident at a construction site.
Some witnesses claim that the accident likely occurred due to an error using a scissor lift. They say that the 33-year-old male victim probably believed that the lift had been placed in a mode that would allow it to move up and down. Instead, however, the lift actually moved forward, toward the side of the building.
When the victim reportedly realized that the equipment was going to fall from the building, he reportedly attempted to save himself by grabbing onto wiring. Because he was strapped into the lift, however, he fell with the equipment. The medical examiner’s report indicates that the man died as a result of injuries suffered in the fall.
The potential for suffering harm in construction accidents and other workplace related incidents is well-known. As a result, California requires employers to provide workers’ compensation insurance coverage. This insurance provides a variety of benefits, including compensation for medical bills, lost wages and funeral expenses and often extends to certain family members in the event of a fatality. Because these benefits may be necessary to allow grieving families to cope with the financial ramifications of their loss, they seek the help from an experienced professionals to help ensure they are treated fairly.
