Many jobs in California can lead to worker injuries or even death. Those who work in construction, for example, face harm from a variety of different construction accidents, including collapsing walls, falling from heights, being hit by heavy machinery and other potential dangers. In fact, reports indicate that a young man recently passed away as a result of a trench collapse in another state.
Reports indicate that the 20-year-old male victim was working with a partner to dig a trench as part of the construction of a house one afternoon on a day in early October. The partner claims that he stepped away momentarily to attend to other tasks. When he returned, he reportedly could not find the victim.
The partner says he eventually realized that the man had been buried in a trench collapse. While he attempted CPR until emergency responders arrived, the young man ultimately passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the accident. An investigation into the cause of the collapse is underway.
Many employers in California take extreme measures in an attempt to prevent construction accidents such as this. Despite their best efforts, however, accidents still happen, leaving employees severely injured. In some cases, such as this one, a worker can lose his or her life. Because of this, states require employers to provide workers’ compensation insurance benefits which help workers and their families manage the financial fallout of an accident, including providing for funeral expenses and lost wages. To help ensure fair compensation, many ask an experienced professional for help.
