Man dies as a result of workplace injuries

Most employers in California provide training in order to protect their workers. Unfortunately, there are some situations that can likely never be anticipated. Such appears to be the case in a recent accident that caused fatal workplace injuries.

The incident happened in another state. Police claim that the 48-year-old driver of a tractor-trailer left his truck running while he ran into a business. Before doing so, he discussed an issue he was having with his brakes with a 54-year-old man at the scene who then reportedly climbed under the vehicle to determine the cause of the mechanical problems.

Unfortunately, when the driver returned, he was unaware of the man’s location. When he attempted to move the tractor-trailer to a different location, he is said to have unknowingly run over the worker. The victim passed away before emergency workers arrived at the scene. Although the incident remains under investigation, police do not suspect foul play.

This accident illustrates the potential dangers in a workplace. Even careful training can not always prevent accidents that lead to fatal workplace injuries. While it may do little to assuage their grief, those who lose family members in accidents at work are often entitled to workers’ compensation insurance benefits. This insurance coverage provides for funeral costs and loss of wages, helping to ensure that families do not struggle financially as a result of their loss. An attorney with experience with the compensation process can help victims in California seek all of the compensation to which they are entitled.
