Man may have died due to toxic exposure

When most people in California think of a workplace accident, they likely think of an injury that happens as a result of a fall or other similar incident. However, people can suffer harm in a variety of different ways, including toxic exposure. For example, an out-of-state workplace death may have been caused by such exposure.

Reports indicate that emergency responders were called to the scene of American Electro Products one day in mid-November. Initial reports indicated that a 38-year-old worker was suffering from heart problems. The worker was then transferred to the hospital.

However, a packet labeled sodium cyanide, a potentially lethal substance, was discovered in his pocket. White powder was also observed on his clothing. The discovery resulted in the closure of certain parts of the hospital until they could be decontaminated. The man has since passed away, but his cause if death will not be known until an autopsy can be conducted. Cyanide is reportedly used at American Electro Products during some of the company’s processes.

An investigation, which will likely determine whether the man died as a result of toxic exposure, will certainly be conducted as a result of the man’s death. Unfortunately, a family is now mourning the unexpected loss of a loved one during a time when most families are gearing up for time spent together during the holidays. Not only does an unexpected loss cause emotional issues for surviving loved ones, family members often suffer as a result of the financial consequences of their loss. However, worker’s compensation insurance benefits can help with many expenses. Because of the complicated process, many in California ask an attorney with experience with the process to negotiate on their behalf.
