There are a variety of different ways in which an employee in California could be injured at work. Often, workplace injuries happen due to no fault of the employee. For example, equipment could malfunction, causing an injury. Unfortunately, a man in another state recently lost his life in a workplace accident that remains under investigation.
Local police officials claim that they received reports of the accident one evening in early December. The 60-year-old victim was an employee of Briggs Equipment. He is believed to have been either performing maintenance on a forklift or repairing it when the forks fell unexpectedly and struck him in the head.
Unfortunately, he died instantly. He was working alone at the time but was soon discovered by a co-worker. As with all fatal workplace place accidents, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is conducting an investigation. If violations of health and safety standards are discovered, the man’s employer could face citations and fines.
