Worker suffers fatal workplace injuries in explosion

While most people in California know that they face dangers in their workplace, the reality that at any moment a serious accident can occur is often difficult to fully grasp. Unfortunately, even those who follow all safety precautions at all times are unable to avoid unexpected workplace injuries. Unfortunately, a man recently died in an accident that occurred in another state.

Police say that they were dispatched to the scene of what was described as an explosion one afternoon in December. According to the man’s employer, the 30-year-old victim was attempting to inflate a large tire with ether and then mount it onto fabricated rims. The rims reportedly weighed around 400 pounds.

Unfortunately, an explosion occurred. Reports indicate that the man died at the scene. The explosion has been ruled an accident. While local law enforcement agencies typically investigate such accidents, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration also investigates fatal workplace accidents in order to determine the cause as well as prevent future incidents.

The goal for employers in California and across the country is to ensure that their employees are protected. Regardless of their efforts, however, workers can still suffer serious, even fatal, workplace injuries that leave them wondering how they will cope with medical expenses and lost wages. For accidents that result in fatalities, surviving family members may also struggle with funeral costs and the resulting loss of income. Fortunately, victims of workplace accidents — including those who have lost a loved one in such an accident — can seek financial relief through workers’ compensation insurance benefits. In order to ensure they receive all the compensation to which they are entitled, many victims seek the guidance of an attorney with experience regarding such benefits.
