There are many potential risks in all workplaces in California and across the country despite the efforts that employers have in place to protect workers. However, there is likely nothing more terrifying for a person working in the field alone than suffering serious workplace injuries. Unfortunately, one man recently experienced such a situation, having to call emergency responders for help.
The man is reportedly a field mechanic. He called emergency responders for help after he was injured in the field. According to information he gave emergency dispatchers, he was performing a process called “bleeding a valve.” He claims that the valve fell which released pressure.
As a result, he suffered a significant cut to his throat. Emergency responders were able to provide first aid care until a helicopter arrived to transport him to the hospital. His current condition is unclear.
While the man is likely feeling extremely fortunate to be alive, he may soon become aware of the expense associated with treatment for the workplace injuries he suffered — the flight to the hospital alone will likely generate large medical bills. Fortunately, he may qualify for workers’ compensation insurance benefits which employers are required by law to provide. These benefits can cover his medical bills and the wages he may miss while he recovers. Many people in California who deserve such benefits often ask an experienced professional to help them through the process. By doing so, victims of such accidents are able to focus on their recovery rather than the paperwork necessary to secure proper compensation.
