Individuals who work in the construction industry have a job that poses many hazards. From the tasks they carry out to the materials they use, construction workers are often at risk of suffering injuries. Regrettably, construction accidents do take place relatively regularly, and many people suffer both physically and financially as a result. Luckily, workers’ compensation can often help with expenses.
California residents may be interested in one man who was recently injured on the job in another state. Reports indicated that the man was working on a construction site while riggers were apparently installing a metal beam about 20 feet in the air. The beam was connected to a cable, but due to the cable possibly snapping or other factors, the beam fell and landed on the worker below. It was unclear how much the beam may have weighed.
The man was stuck underneath the beam after it landed on his side and shoulder. The fire department apparently came to the scene as a spokeswoman stated that the worker was taken to an area medical center. He was considered to be in critical condition at the time of the report.
Construction accidents commonly cause serious injuries, just as the man suffered in this event. If California workers are similarly harmed, they may find themselves looking to make ends meet financially due to the medical expenses and lost income that they may face. Luckily, workers’ compensation may be able to help. However, because certain roadblocks could arise when applying for and obtaining benefits, interested individuals may wish to gain assistance from knowledgeable attorneys.
