Simple mishaps could lead to workplace injuries in California

On Behalf of | Mar 13, 2018 | Workers' Compensation

When working in construction, even a slight mishap can have detrimental impacts. Workers are often vulnerable to suffering workplace injuries that relate to the materials they are using or the machinery involved in their tasks. An unexpected malfunction could easily lead to California workers ending up in a predicament that could have lasting effects on their well-being.

It was recently reported that an out-of-state worker was injured on the job. Apparently, the man was working as part of a construction crew as they installed a new aqueduct tunnel. In order to complete this construction, sections of concrete tunnel had to be installed. This task was apparently carried out with the aid of an installation machine that the workers put precast concrete sections into.

The man suffered injuries after one of the concrete sections fell from the machine. The section reportedly landed on the man’s leg and trapped him. He was successfully extricated and remained alert throughout the ordeal. It was unclear what exact injuries he may have suffered, but he was taken from the scene for treatment at an area medical center.

Workplace injuries can take place quite suddenly, and though it is hoped that such incidents can be avoided, if they cannot, a non-serious accident is the next best scenario. Of course, even seemingly minor incidents overall can lead to workers suffering injuries that take time and effort to recover from. In particular, California workers who have suffered injuries on the job may find themselves facing financial burdens and wondering whether workers’ compensation could help. These benefits are often applicable to work-related injuries, and obtaining more information could help those interested in pursuing assistance.
