Many California residents devote their lives to performing their jobs to the best of their abilities. Unfortunately, it may be those same jobs that claim the lives of such hard workers. Accidents that lead to fatal workplace injuries are not rarities, and surviving family members are often left struggling, both emotionally and financially, in the aftermath of such events.
One family in another state may be experiencing these difficulties after a recent incident. Reports stated that a man working at a sand supply company suffered fatal injuries as a result of a job-related accident. Apparently, the man had been working with rail cars and had unhooked one car from the train. The car began to roll after being unhitched, and though the man attempted to get out of the way, he was not able to do so successfully.
Because the train car ran over the man, he suffered critical injuries and had to be transported by air ambulance to a hospital. At some after transport, the man succumbed to the injuries he suffered. The report gave his age as 46 years old, and it did not appear that anyone else was involved in the incident.
No one wants to receive news that a loved one was killed as the result of a work-related accident. Sadly, many California families do learn of such tragedies and must go on with their lives despite their losses. When it comes to the financial struggles that stem from incidents involving fatal workplace injuries, surviving family members may be entitled to benefits from workers’ compensation if they qualify. Information on these benefits may prove useful to interested parties.
