Unexpected incidents happen every day in many different scenarios. However, California residents who work in the construction industry know that they face a high risk of being involved in construction accidents. In particular, if individuals are working with large and heavy materials, they could suffer serious injuries if an incident involving those materials takes place.
It was recently reported that such an event occurred in another state. There were apparently four workers constructing a water tower when a large piece of metal being lifted with a crane fell into the area where the workers were inside the unfinished tank. Two of the workers were able to get out of the way of the falling material, but the other two individuals were not as lucky.
One of the men was trapped beneath the metal when emergency crews arrived. That individual apparently suffered fatal injuries as a result of the incident. He was reported as being 52 years old. Another worker was also injured in the incident and was transported from the scene to an area hospital. It was not clear what type of injuries he may have suffered.
When construction accidents lead to fatal injuries, the victims’ families may find themselves in need of financial help while struggling to deal with their grief. With workers’ compensation, individuals injured or families of deceased victims may have the ability to obtain financial benefits to help in such situations.
