Materials can cause injuries in construction accidents

On Behalf of | Jan 28, 2019 | Construction Workers' Accidents

California construction areas are often busy places. Several workers are usually milling around carrying out work-related duties that involve machinery, equipment and heavy materials. While these aspects are typically needed in order to complete projects, they can also play roles in serious construction accidents that lead to workers suffering injuries.

It was recently reported that a worker in another state suffered injuries after an on-the-job accident. Apparently, the man was part of a crew working on a building. Another crew member was attempting to hoist a heavy spool of tubing from the third floor to the fourth floor when the spool struck the other worker. Further details on the accident itself were not provided in the report. It did not appear that any other workers were hit.

Firefighters had to utilize a boom ladder to lower the worker from the third floor because the building had no working elevators at the time. The worker was then transported to an area hospital in order to receive treatment for unspecified injuries. It was noted that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was made aware of the incident and went to the scene. They will likely conduct an investigation.

Unfortunately, construction accidents are not uncommon events. If California workers suffer injuries in such events, they may need various types of assistance to deal with the aftermath. In particular, injured workers may need workers’ compensation to help them address financial concerns stemming from these incidents, like lost wages and medical expenses. These benefits may also be useful in other ways, and speaking with knowledgeable attorneys may help interested parties gain reliable information.
