Construction accidents involving scaffolding not uncommon

On Behalf of | Feb 11, 2019 | Construction Workers' Accidents

Scaffolding is a common piece of equipment used in construction projects. It allows individuals to work at heights without ladders and to have more room to maneuver while carrying out their duties. However, scaffolding is also commonly involved in construction accidents either due to workers falling from them, the structures collapsing or other issues.

California residents may be interested in an out-of-state accident that recently occurred that involved this equipment. Reports stated that a construction worker was on some scaffolding while working on a building when he fell off the temporary structure. It was unclear what may have caused the worker to fall, but it was reported that he was working on the seventh floor of the building and did not fall any further than that same floor.

Unfortunately, the incident resulted in the worker suffering a back injury. At the time of the incident, he could not stand up or move. A fire rescue battalion apparently came to the scene in order to address the situation. No additional information about the accident or the man’s condition were given in the report. It was noted that this was the second injury-causing accident that has occurred on that project.

Back injuries can easily result in workers not being able to carry out a number of daily tasks. Construction accidents commonly lead to such serious injuries, especially when falls occur. If California workers have injured their backs on the job, they may need time off to recover. During this time, it may prove wise for them to explore their workers’ compensation options and determine their possible abilities to gain financial support.
