Anyone’s job could put him or her at risk of suffering injuries at some point. In some cases, the injuries may not show up for years because they result from repetitive motions that slowly take a toll on the body. In other cases, individuals could suddenly suffer severe workplace injuries when an unexpected accident occurs.
It was recently reported that a California worker suffered critical injuries in a sudden incident. Apparently, the man worked for a tree trimming company and was in an extension bucket working to trim trees near power lines. It was unclear exactly what happened during the accident, but the worker went down inside the bucket, which caused his co-workers to call emergency services. The workers were able to bring the bucket back down and began CPR.
The report indicated that the man was unconscious when emergency crews arrived, and he was taken to a nearby hospital. His exact condition at the time of the report was unknown, and though Cal/OSHA is investigating the incident, the agency did not have an update on his injuries or condition. Additional information may be available as the investigation continues.
Suffering serious workplace injuries is a matter that no one wants to face but far too many people do. Fortunately, many California workers can qualify for workers’ compensation benefits in the event that injuries do occur in the course of work-related duties. Because applying for benefits can be complicated and involves various paperwork, individuals may want help during this time. Having a legal advocate assist throughout the process could help recovering workers focus on their health and feel less stress about trying to obtain workers’ compensation.
