The actions of other people can often contribute to serious accidents. Unfortunately, even if individuals in notoriously dangerous professions, like construction, try to account for potential hazards, they cannot always predict how other people will act. As a result, someone could easily suffer a construction injury.
It was recently reported that one worker in California suffered injuries while on the job. The worker was on a construction site doing preparation work for sewer reconstruction when a driver crashed into the site. The vehicle collided with some equipment, which then caused the worker to fall into a 20-foot hole. The incident took place around 10:30 p.m. It was noted that the driver of the car attempted to leave the scene, but authorities were able to apprehend that person.
The worker suffered injuries when he fell into the hole and was unable to get himself out. As a result, emergency crews were called to the scene, and rescue workers extricated that man. He was transported from the scene by ambulance, but at that time, it did not appear that his injuries were serious.
Suffering any type of construction injury can cause setbacks for workers. The California man involved in this incident may need to take time off of work in order to recover and will likely amass medical bills related to his treatment. It may be in his best interests to gain information relating to workers’ compensation benefits and the assistance he may be able to obtain through workers’ comp. The application process can be difficult, and having help is often wise.
