Amazon warehouse workers may see workplace injuries this season

During the holiday season, many businesses see an uptick in sales, orders and work overall. As a result, many California workers may be racking up numerous overtime hours or doing more work in their regular hours than during other times of the year. While this increase in business may be profitable, it could also put employees at higher risk of workplace injuries.

It was recently reported that the number of injuries that occur in Amazon warehouses increases during the holidays. Though many people order from the online retail site, they may not give much thought to how their orders get from the warehouse to their doorstep. The warehouse workers themselves are likely not considered at all. However, those workers are expected to meet high production quotas, and if they do not, they face negative repercussions, like write-ups or terminations.

Because workers do not want to be reprimanded or fired, they often overwork themselves trying to meet those quotas. In some cases, they may even try to take shortcuts that could cause them to suffer injuries. Workers may suffer from back injuries, shoulder injuries, carpal tunnel and other issues because they are unable to slow down while working due to having to meet their quotas.

Most workers stay at grueling jobs because they need the income. Unfortunately, some California workers may find themselves overworked and suffering pain while on the job all because of trying to meet the demands of their employers. If workers do suffer injuries on the job, they may want to determine whether they could qualify for workers’ compensation that could help them face the financial repercussions of workplace injuries.
