Workplace injuries could result from ergonomic risk factors

The term “ergonomic” seems to appear more often these days in a variety of places. Many advertisements for numerous products boast ergonomic designs that are supposed to be easier on the body. While some California residents may not see why it is so important, they may change their minds if they understood that ergonomic risk factors on the job could cause workplace injuries.

Ergonomics generally refers to the amount of comfort and efficiency in the way certain products are used or actions are carried out, particularly on the job. No matter the profession, workers face at least some potential ergonomic risks. For example, some workers may perform the same repetitive motions for hours on end almost every day. If workers do not take breaks or do not perform these continuous motions appropriately, they could be at risk of suffering an injury.

Additionally, injuries could result from awkward postures, especially those that are repeated or consistent for considerable periods of time. If individuals sit at a desk all day with a slouched posture, it is possible for back injuries to result. Additionally, having to stoop, bend or awkwardly reach can present risks for ergonomic injuries as well.

Though many California workers may not consider any of these activities particularly dangerous or risky, they do present a chance for injuries. It may take years for certain symptoms of workplace injuries caused by ergonomic risk factors to appear, but they can have major effects on a person’s life. If workers believe that they have suffered injuries on the job relating to these issues, they may wonder whether they could obtain workers’ compensation benefits. In order to gain the right information for their particular circumstances, interested parties may want to speak with knowledgeable attorneys.
