Many people in California and across the country want nothing more than to spend the holidays with the people that they love. Unfortunately, reports indicate that a group of friends who intended to ring in the new year together ultimately experienced tragedy as a result of their attempts. In fact, three people are said to have been killed in a car accident.
The incident happened just after 11 p.m. A woman says that her son told her that he was going with friends to another house a few blocks away. Unfortunately, surveillance footage reportedly caught the sound of an accident soon afterward. Though another vehicle was also seen on video, it is unclear if it was involved in the accident.
The driver of the vehicle in which the friends were traveling was a 20-year-old male. Reports indicate that both he and his front seat passenger were uninjured in the crash. But three males in the back seat are said to have been ejected in the accident and died as a result of injuries suffered. The driver now faces charges of manslaughter and DUI causing bodily injury.
When people lose a loved one as a result of the negligence of another person, something that could bring surviving family members peace is forgiving that person. However, even when forgiveness comes, these families often face overwhelming financial hardships. To help ensure that they are able to cope with this, those who lose a loved one in California caused by a driver who was under the influence of alcohol or otherwise believed to be negligent may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit.
